Easy Homemade Ranch Dressing Recipe

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup milk or buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt and pepper

INSTRUCTIONS 

In a lidded jar, combine the mayonnaise, milk, parsley, dill, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Cover with lid, seal, and shake to combine.

Refrigerate and use for up to a week.

Homemade Buttermilk Ranch

Homemade Buttermilk Ranch Dressing Recipe notes: 
The recipe below calls for fresh herbs. Dried herbs may be substituted if needed. Use 1/3 of dried for the amount of fresh herbs that are called for. 
This recipe makes a thick ranch dressing. If a thinner consistency is preferred, add just a little bit of buttermilk at a time until desired thickness is reached.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk (+ extra if needed for desired consistency)
  • 1 teaspoon rice wine vinegar (or cider vinegar)
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated or finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley*
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives*
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill*
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Whisk together all ingredients until combined well and smooth.
  2. If a thinner dressing is preferred, add a little bit of buttermilk at at time until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Dressing will last up to 3 days refrigerated.

Ranch Dressing

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup freshly chopped parsley
  • 2 tbsp. freshly chopped dill
  • 2 tbsp. freshly chopped chives
  • 1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • Pinch cayenne pepper

Mix  together mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk. Add remaining ingredients and stir until combined. Store covered in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Homemade Ranch Dressing Recipe

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk or regular milk
  • 3/4 - 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried chives
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon finely cracked pepper
  • freshly squeezed lemon juice to taste approximately 1-3 teaspoons, adjust to taste

Whisk together the mayo, sour cream and milk until smooth. Add the spices and whisk until combined. Add the lemon and whisk again. Pour into a jar and chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. This dressing will keep nicely in the refrigerator for up to a week.
